A Foundation that fights violence against women

Movement of defense and of precise and targeted help, the SURGIR Foundation addresses women subjugated by criminal tradition, martyrs in their heart and in their body. Wherever they may be in the world, mutilated, violated, rejected, burned, lapidated, sequestered, kept in illiteracy and serfdom, or even killed in the name of honour, the SURGIR Foundation seeks to be the witness of their suffering and the tool for their fight, carrying their scream, their action, their revolt.

SURGIR is a Swiss-based Foundation, located in Lausanne and established according to article 80 of the Civil Code. It calls upon a Foundation Council (made up of five members) and is placed under the monitoring authority of the County of Vaud. It is run by a small team of employees and volunteers, as well as by a dozen employees in targeted countries. All those committed to the SURGIR Foundation are conscious of the immensity of the task before them and of the necessity to invest their time, but also a part of their personal comfort, for this cause.

The SURGIR Foundation is an apolitical and non-confessional movement.
