Europe and Switzerland : Rescue programme

Zaina accompanied by her daughter Lina

Various NGOs dealing with women’s rights approach us to help young girls threatened by honour crimes or extreme violence, who cannot be helped in their country. We study each situation in detail and decide whether there might be the possibility of rehabilitating these young girls in Europe, away from the dangers they face in their home country. The calls we receive mostly come from Central Asia (Pakistan, Afghanistan…) and the Middle East (Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon…).

Once we have obtained a permit for the woman in the host country, our work consists in integrating her socially. This process can take from five to seven years long. During that period, the SURGIR Foundation accompanies the person socially and psychologically on the road to integration.

Each rescue operation is aimed at reconstructing a new life in the host country.
